I was introduced to Aglow in 1980, just two weeks after inviting Jesus into my life, being baptized in the Holy Spirit, and joining a group of passionate, on-fire-for-Jesus women for Bible study. They told me the next step was attending an Aglow meeting—so they whisked me away to a local gathering, where I experienced true worship and singing in the Spirit for the first time. I was hooked!
A few months later, the then-president, Marcia Hawley, asked me to write and distribute the local newsletter—a role I joyfully filled for quite some time. In 1985, I attended my first International Conference in California, joining 10,000–12,000 other women (and a few men). How I became president of Aglow Delavan that same year is a story in itself, but through every season—whether in times of thriving or transition—I have remained an active member. Through local meetings, Bible studies led by MaryBeth Hasz, Rose Hayes, and others, retreats at Green Lake, and regional, national, and international conferences (I’ve only missed one since 1985!), as well as a life-changing trip to Israel, I can wholeheartedly declare: I am an Aglow Girl—woman, old lady, whatever you want to call me!
After retiring from teaching in 2017, my husband and I were enjoying our annual January in Florida when I received an unexpected call from Cheryl Sanders, inviting me to serve on the WI South Area Team. I was surprised, but when Craig immediately agreed, I took that as confirmation and accepted. Since then, I have served as Vice President of Administration.
Currently, I am also acting president of Aglow Williams Bay. We meet twice a month—the second Monday is dedicated to Aglow business and prayer, while the fourth Monday is devoted to working through Graham Cooke’s LifeChangers. As a group, we are actively seeking the Lord’s orders and direction.
Aglow has been instrumental in my spiritual growth. I have watched, participated in, and been deeply impacted by the transformation and Spirit-led leadership that Aglow International continues to champion. I am truly blessed!
